What is “Grit & Glam?”
Well, think of it like this - if Ralph Lauren and Rachael Ashwell had a child and the godmother was Bunny Williams, you’d be there.
At least fifteen years ago I came home for a visit and was wearing my grandfather's beat-to-hell Barbour wax jacket with a pair of giant diamond stud earrings (a story for another day!). My mother took one look at me and said "well, that's very grit and glam." Total lightbulb moment.
I have a passion for the vibe of the old and well-loved contrasted with elegance and glamour and brought this into my own lifestyle.
I once had an enviable landscape design business in CA that specialized in elevated-but-earthy edible gardens. (My favorite was the 10K glammy one we made and filled with rare garden antiques nestled next to parsley and potatoes.)
My curated antique store in Maine has a similar aesthetic of crusty old stuff next to pricey original art.
I was the garden and lifestyle editor of basically every magazine with “living” in the title and Editorial Director for many famous eCommerce sites (if you love to shop, this is a great gig!) so creating a lust-worthy universe is second nature. I'm sure you get the idea because it's not as if I have invented something that hasn’t been done before. What makes this, I hope, different, is elevating "the look" to a gracious but gritty lifestyle.
